Books, Movies and Music of 2009 - Part 1
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer I am probably part of a short membership of people to have read this book and not read Everything is Illuminated.  I am currently pushing through that novel and even though I don’t understand all of the Jewish references it’s still splendid. About this book though. Magical, confident, wonderful, interesting, quirky,...

White Chocolate Butter.
When I was a kid growing up in Austria my Dad brought back this white chocolate butter from, I think it was Budapest but I could be very wrong.  It was one of the most amazing things I’ve tasted and I can still remember the taste. I wish I had it now.

Ideas with Rich
There should be designated lanes in shopping centres for various speeds.  Lanes near the windows should be for slow walking and peering at windows, and then lanes furthest away should be for overtaking and walking quickly. I know it’d be hard to enforce and probably wouldn’t work perfectly but any improvement is an improvement. It would save me from running into the backs of bogans as...

I’m not going to delve to far right now, but some first thoughts are as follows: As I’ve let Avatar settle in, one element that I’ve been thinking about is Cameron’s subtle glossing over of the human emotion of jealousy: Norm gets over his seemingly growing jealousy of Jake in a simple Voice Over. What could have been a deep rooted set up for...

I want some motherfucking Taco Bell...or KFC!
ihavelittleshoes: goddammit…I don’t want to settle for 24-hour McDonalds. Is KFC actually good in America? I keep hearing Americans crave it.  It’s rather dismal down under.

(Photo by Kristy Milliken) Violence in cinema and video games is the least of my worries.  I have never ever wanted to murder a police officer because I’ve played Grand Theft Auto or decapitate someone because I’ve played Resident Evil.  I’ve never had any truly violent urges in my life. I’m more worried about love in cinema. The entirely false stories told in cinema of...
